Ward 3 gears up for crucial by-election today
The long-time party leader, Dr Mangosuthu Buthelezi, reminded IFP members to vote for the party and for their candidate, Thobani Molotshwa, to lead them in governance again as they did on August 3, 2016.
Ward 3, Glencoe, is going back to the ballot box today. A total number of 4 185 voters are registered to vote in the Sithembile community hall and at Empisini Primary School.
Although the weather was cool and rainy on Saturday, that did not stop the hundreds of IFP supporters from attending the Siyanqoba Rally at Sithembile stadium hosted by the IFP.
The long-time party leader, Dr Mangosuthu Buthelezi, reminded IFP members to vote for the party and for their candidate, Thobani Molotshwa, to lead them in governance again as they did on August 3, 2016.
“I am here to urge you to vote on Wednesday. Your vote is absolutely crucial for victory in Endumeni. If you don’t vote, your voice will be ignored.”

He also outlined the progress made by the party since they returned to governance, including the ongoing forensic investigation into the finances and skills audit at Umzinyathi District Municipality.
He appealed to the electorate of Sithembile to use their vote on Wednesday. Dr Buthelezi added that the results of the last Local Government Elections proved that the ‘IFP is making a comeback.’
He added that the IFP is regaining lost ground following its recent victory at Nquthu. “When I came here in July, I spoke to you about the party’s difficult decision to expel our Councillor Zitha as he had colluded with the ANC… that’s why he was removed from the party. We had to face the painful truth that one of our own was trying to deliberately manipulate your voice and disrespect your decision.”
As political parties wrapped up their campaigns, the ANC also addressed its rally on Saturday and Sunday in the Sithembile Hall. Both parties are requesting voters to make the ‘right decision’. This by-election is vital, as they will decide whether the ANC or the IFP continues to run the Endumeni Municipality with the DA and EFF coalition.
