People living in Smartiesville are fed up with the illegal dumping taking place in the area.
The problem of dumping is not only prevalent in Smartiesville, but in other areas of Ladysmith as well.
Residents feel that the municipality is shirking its responsibility when it comes to going out and cleaning up the vacant plots of land that people have decided to turn into makeshift dump sites.
The general consensus is that illegal dumping is getting worse day by day.
“People need to stop throwing their rubbish on vacant pieces of land. Not only does it stink when it is hot, but it makes the whole area look filthy. These unhygienic conditions are unacceptable,” said a concerned resident.
