Alfred Duma Local Municipality representatives gathered with the community of Ensongweni in Umhlumayo (Ward 28) recently to introduce a gravel road and storm-water drain project to be constructed in Ensongweni.
The meeting took place at the Mfundeni sports grounds in Ward 28 on Wednesday last week (November 8).
The project will be a 6km gravel road, including a storm-water drain. The road will be 7m wide to allow vehicular traffic to flow in both directions.
The project is budgeted at an estimated R4.3 million and should be completed in five months, as per the project plan.
Speaking at the meeting, Municipal Chief Whip Cllr Njapha spoke of other projects that are in the area and pointed out that 20 jobs will be created for the community based on the project. He also strongly urged the community to look after the project material and also look after the equipment.
Cllr Madinane, who is the chairperson of the Infrastructure & Technical Portfolio Committee at Alfred Duma Local Municipality, and Ward Councillor Majola were also present at the meeting.
Alfred Duma Local Municipality strongly urges the community to look after and take extra care of project-based material and equipment. If ever there are criminals stealing from the construction sites, do call the police. If you remain silent, you contribute to sabotaging service delivery in your ward, so say no to theft.
