Overflowing drain frustrates Wembezi resident

A mini-pond has been created in two yards in Wembezi due to an overflowing drain.

The water has been trickling out of the drain for days and since the water has nowhere to flow to, it’s beginning to collect in one of the resident’s homes. Due to this, he has had to move out his furniture to avoid damage.

Mr JB Shezi is especially concerned about the hygiene of his family. Both affected residents have contacted uThukela District Municipality and their ward councillor but received no positive response.

“It’s clear that the drain is clogged and urgently needs to be unblocked. Each time I call uThukela, they say they sending someone but no one shows up,” said Mr Shezi.

UThukela District Municipality has been made aware of the concerns.
