Two men were each handed a life sentence after they brutally murdered a taxi boss in Madadeni Section 6 in 2013.
According to KwaZulu-Natal SAPS Corporate Communications and Liaison Officer, Colonel Thembeka Mbhele, local taxi owner, 38-year-old Siyabonga Nkabinde, was with a relative on November 28, 2013, when they were ambushed by the two accused near the taxi rank in Madadeni Section 6.

“The two men opened fired at Nkabinde, leaving him fatally wounded and his relative seriously injured.”
A case of murder and attempted murder was later opened at the Madadeni Police Station before being transferred to the Provincial Taxi Task Team for further investigation.
“The persistence of the investigating officers to solve the case led to the arrest of the two accused and their successful prosecution.”
The two men, aged 31 and 41 years respectively, appeared in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court on October 19, where they were each sentenced to life behind bars.
Acting Provincial Commissioner Major General Bheki Langa commended the detectives on their determination to put the murderers behind bars, and for sending a well-investigated docket to court for the successful prosecution.
