Two men, aged 29 and 34, will serve ‘hard time’ for rape after an incident that occurred in December 2005.
During the early hours of the morning of December 31, 2005, a young lady got out of a vehicle in the Ladysmith CBD after returning from a trip to Pietermaritzburg.
She had no choice but to walk to her residence in the Leonardsville area…
As she turned a corner between two buildings leading to her residence, she noticed five men. As she passed them, two of the men greeted her. She continued walking in an attempt to get to safety.
She was followed by two of the men, who began to address her with derogatory names.
She was tripped and fell to the ground. Two of the men brutally raped her while two other men searched her clothing and stole her cell-phone and wallet.
A member of the public saw what was transpiring and raised the alarm.
