Alfred Duma Local Municipality council leadership and officials were in Ward 5, Ezakheni C-Section area, on Thursday, October 12, to address the issue of housing complaints that resulted in the community blocking the roads a few weeks back.
Mayor Vincent Madlala, who was accompanied by other councillors, addressed the community at a meeting where he mentioned that there were various challenges that led to the housing project not proceeding as expected.
On Friday last week, an agreement for the project to continue was signed.
Mayor Madlala announced at the meeting that 624 houses will be built, and the project will commence soon with an estimated budget of R46 million.

Mayor Madlala also appealed to the community to work co-operatively with the contractors and companies that will be implementing the project in order for the housing project to be completed successfully on time.
Alfred Duma Local Municipality would like to thank all stakeholders in government, particularly the Human Settlements Department, who made this project approval a reality.
