Despite today being #BlackMonday, where farmers are protesting against farm attacks, an elderly farmer was brutally murdered outside Vryheid at Gelukstad at 10am today (October 30).

The farmer was allegedly beaten to death after an altercation and his body thrown onto the back of a bakkie.

Nearby community members, having seen what the attacker did, prevented him from escaping and severely beat the attacker.

Although this is not a Ladysmith story, it highlights the plight that farmers are under 24/7 in South Africa.
