
On Wednesday, October 25, the Ladysmith Regional Court sentenced 35-year-old Maseveni Siphosakhe Nyathi to 23 years’ imprisonment for rape.
He was accused of raping a 22-year-old girl in March of last year in the Ladysmith CBD after pretending to be concerned for her safety and offering to walk her home.

On the way to her home, he dragged her into some bushes and raped her at knife-point.
The case was investigated by the Ladysmith Family Violence, Child Protection & Sexual Offences Unit (FCS).
