‘Hard time’ for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Ladysmith

Further investigation revealed that Mazibuko could have been part of the group responsible for the burglary and theft

A 30-year-old man was recently sentenced in the Ezakheni Regional Court to 19 years’ imprisonment for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Bongane Emmanuel Mazibuko was arrested on April 14 on the Helpmekaar Road just outside Ladysmith after he was found in possession of an R5 assault rifle with eight rounds of ammunition.

The arresting officers were in the process of following up on information concerning a case of business burglary that had occurred in the Burford area the previous night.

Further investigation revealed that Mazibuko could have been part of the group responsible for the burglary and theft.
