Senior taxi boss and a member of the Sizwe Taxi Association, Sibusiso Nkomonde was shot and killed while on his way home near the Vaalbank area, between Dannhauser and Newcastle, on Sunday, November 5.
It is reported that a vehicle with three occupants opened fire, fatally wounding Nkomonde.
Police on the scene reported Nkomonde sustained bullet wounds to his head and chest, instantly killing him.

This comes after just a week after a mass shooting claimed the life of a taxi boss and 11 others in an ambush attack in Ladysmith.
Klipriver Taxi Association deputy chairperson Christopher Muzikayifani Ngobese‚ his daughter Nozipho‚ two bodyguards, the driver and six other people died, when the bakkie carrying Ngobese lost control and hit an oncoming taxi, reported sister publication Ladysmith Gazette.
It is alleged the feud between the two taxi associations was related to the ongoing conflict over lucrative long-distance routes.
In a separate incident, Mzonjani Magagula of Madadeni Taxi Association was killed earlier this year, while in 2015, Khuzi Khumalo was shot and killed in his home in Madadeni by men who later had charges withdrawn against them.
Two years ago, taxi owners Sipho Mlotshwa, Gabangaye Mpofu and Bhekani Dladla were also shot and killed taxi related violence erupted two years ago.
