PREVIEW: Bleak times loom for Ferret Street, Gandhi Park

Ferret Street remains in a deplorable state, despite assurances from the municipality the street would be restored.

For months, Ferret Street has been almost unusable by residents.

What began as a storm water drainage project has sparked outrage from residents.

They complained it also resulted in non-functioning streetlights, pipe damage and power cuts.

And after commencing in April, the project is still yet complete.

“It’s disgusting to know ratepayers forked out millions to pay for this shoddy caliber of work. We’ve been inconvenienced for months, through no fault of our own. I expect the municipality will give the same old excuses this time around too.”

In its official response, the municipality explained the storm water system upgrade intended to alleviate flooding on Reservoir Street, portions of Henrietta and Ferret Streets and beyond the crossing of Ferret and Panorama Drive.

Apparently the project was due for completion by November 9.
