Continuous break-ins and theft at her business has left Sharon Cross anxious about what each day holds when she opens her business each morning.

Since the middle of this year, thieves have invaded the property in Brewitt Road and stolen household appliances, garden and workshop tools as well as gas bottles. Last week, Mrs Cross was able to capture one of the suspected thieves on Close Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras.

The man is seen handling a hosepipe inside the property at 11.41am last Sunday morning. Still photos captured from the CCTV footage was posted on social media and evoked a flurry of comments from locals who also had hosepipes and other tools stolen from their property.

Mrs Cross hopes that the man would be identified by the images and the person/s responsible for the theft from properties is found.
Another break-in awaited Mrs Cross on Monday morning, this time an assortment of tools were stolen from a locked shed.
The dogs were by-passed and the lock broken open.

Mrs Cross estimates that since May/June until now, R20 000 worth of items have been pilfered from her property in Brewitt Road.
She urges locals to be vigilant and keep an eye out for people who are loitering.

“Also look out for each other and your neighbours. It seems as if the thieves strike during the day when people are at work or when no one is around,” said Mrs Cross.

A case has been opened at the Estcourt Police Station and detectives were on scene on Monday morning.
