Firearms seized, four suspects arrested in Loskop and Winterton

Two more people, both aged 21, were arrested during the early hours of Monday morning in the Khethani and Emaswazini areas of Winterton

Three unlicensed firearms and 30 rounds of ammunition were seized by police during the weekend.

In the first incident, members of the Uthukela Cluster Task Team arrested two people, aged 21 and 28 in the Mqedondaba area of Loskop on Sunday.

The 21-year-old was found in possession of two rounds of 9mm ammunition and the 28-year-old was found in possession of an unlicensed revolver.

Two more people, both aged 21, were arrested during the early hours of Monday morning in the Khethani and Emaswazini areas of Winterton.

“One suspect was found in possession of an unlicensed 7.65mm pistol and 15 rounds of ammunition while the second suspect was found in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol and 13 rounds of ammunition,” explained police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig.
