Dundee – The Pietermaritzburg High Court convicted and sentenced 39-year-old Phumlani Khumalo Zondi of Dundee, to 30 years imprisonment for two convictions of murder.
Colonel Thembeka Mbhele of KZN SAPS Corporate Communications, said Zondi was arrested after he terrorised and murdered two of his girlfriends earlier this year.
“The first case was reported on March 18, at 6.30pm, after the body of 40-year-old Sizakele Phakathi was found next to a footpath along Victory street in Dundee. Her throat was slit and her legs were tied up with a black belt.”
Mbhele said the second incident was reported on September 16 at 10pm.
This is when the body of 28-year-old Sihle Dolly Mnguni, was found in an open field on Gladstone Street.
“Mnguni had sustained multiple head injuries,” he said.
Both cases were reported and cases were opened and an intensive investigation was started by detectives.
