Dannhauser SAPS arrested a 32-year-old suspect for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Captain Ahmed of Dannhauser SAPS said he received a tip-off regarding the suspect.
“SAPS searched the suspects residence and recovered the firearm and live rounds of ammunition.”
He was requested to produce legal documentation for the firearm but was unable to do so.
After intense investigations, the firearm was linked to an armed robbery which had occurred in the Dannhauser area on November 1, when a 60-year-old man was shot and robbed of his cash.

“The incident occurred at about 8.20pm while the victim was standing at his gate. He sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Newcastle Mediclinic for further medical assistance.”
The suspect appeared at Dannhauser Magistrate’s Court recently, but the case was postponed pending further investigations.
The firearm has since been sent for ballistic testing to determine whether it was linked to any other criminal cases in the area.
