UPDATE: Suspected farm attackers make first court appearance in Danie Swanepoel murder case

The suspects, aged 21 and 23, faced the magistrate as the prosecutor requested that the case be postponed until November 30, pending a decision from the Department of Public Prosecutors to refer the case to the high court. With the family of the deceased all around them, the two accused showed very little emotion when advised that they would remain in police custody until their next appearance.

THE two accused in the recent murder of farmer, Danie Swanepoel, left the courtroom in shackles this morning, following their first court appearance at Vryheid Magistrate’s Court after the brutal killing took place on November 4.

Danie Swanepoel was ruthlessly and mercilessly attacked on his farm and allegedly tortured by the perpetrators in a manner that can only be described as barbaric. As well as multiple cuts and stab wounds, it is believed that one of the implements utilised in the torture was an electric device that could physically debilitate a fully grown bull. The two suspects who are believed to have tortured and murdered Danie Swanepoel in a recent farm attack.

According to reports, the attack on Danie Swanepoel at his Eensgevonden Farm in the Zaailaagte area was the seventh farm attack since the Black Monday protest on October 30. 

The two accused leave the courtroom in shackles.
