Two robbers will spend the next decade behind bars after their case was finalised in court on Thursday.
The robbery took place in the Besters area close to Ladysmith in May this year. A 44-year-old man was asleep at home when two men forcefully entered his house. The men surprised the victim and demanded the keys to his vehicle, which he refused to hand over.
The man was able to identify one of his assailants, but pretended that he did not know them. He was brutally assaulted for refusing to hand over his car keys. The robbers then decided to take other valuables instead. A flat-screen television was damaged during the house robbery.

The suspects were arrested a few days later. Both pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against them. The case was finalised on Thursday (November 9) in the Ladysmith Regional Court.
Sihabiso Trueman Nyembe (25) and Mihokozisi Innocent Sishange (24) were sentenced to five years’ imprisonment on the charge of house robbery and 10 years for assault with intent to commit grievous bodily harm. Both sentences are to run concurrently.
