Cash-in-transit guards were targeted at Theku Plaza, oSizweni, shortly before 11am today, (November 21).
Madadeni SAPS spokesperson, Captain Mandlenkosi Nkosi said the guards were collecting cash from a store at Theku Plaza, when the incident happened.

Allegedly, one of the guards were walking towards the cash-in-transit vehicle, pushing a trolley with the cash from the store, when he was attacked.
The guard apparently fell and broke his arm during the process.
At present it is unclear how many suspects were involved, but the culprits fled the scene after snatching the money and the injured guard’s firearm. The guard is currently in hospital.
Police investigations are underway.
