Pedestrian robbed and pushed into the path of a moving truck in Ladysmith

The attacker fled the scene on foot in the direction of the riverbank after taking the woman's phone

A pedestrian was robbed of her cell-phone and viciously pushed into the path of a truck on Tuesday afternoon (November 21) in Kandahar Avenue.

The 23-year-old pedestrian was walking with an elderly woman when the incident took place.

The elderly woman says they were walking along the steel bridge in Kandahar Avenue when a man approached them and attacked the younger lady, grabbing her cell-phone.

A tussle ensued over the cell-phone. The man overpowered the woman and pushed her over the railing of the bridge into the path of a moving truck. She was hit by the truck and injured.

The elderly woman said the man fled the scene on foot in the direction of the riverbank after taking the phone.

Emergency personnel were called to the scene by bystanders who witnessed the whole ordeal.

The lady was stabilised and taken to hospital for further medical treatment.
