Newcastle 911 Community Policing Forum continues to make a dent in crime statistics during November.
Through round-the-clock work, they keep criminals off the streets of Newcastle.
November 11:
Newcastle 911 CPF was informed of a rape which occurred in the CBD.
Members responded to the call and searched for the suspect.
However, while searching for the suspect, information was received of a break-in at a clothing store nearby.
A suspect was spotted and searched, and clothing was found in his bag. There was blood on the clothing items as well as at the break-in scene.
Newcastle SAPS was summoned and the suspect was arrested.
November 14:
Newcastle 911 CPF members, together with Newcastle SAPS, received a tip-off regarding a suspect who had a warrant of arrest against him.
The suspect was arrested with two other suspects, for dealing in illegal substances.
Also on November 14:
A call was received regarding a cellphone which was stolen in Arbor Park.
While searching for the suspect, another call was received informing members that a second cellphone had been stolen in Madadeni,
SAPS were informed and the suspect was identified and arrested.
