A man was arrested after Newcastle SAPS Crime Prevention Group A apprehended him in a hijacked vehicle in Newcastle CBD on December 28.
According to Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications and Liaison Officer, Captain Jabulani Ncube, the suspect had hijacked the vehicle in Empangeni two days prior to his arrest, before fleeing to Newcastle in the vehicle.
“The vehicle was fortunately fitted with a tracking system which picked up that the vehicle was in Newcastle. The tracking company contacted Newcastle SAPS and informed them of the situation.”
Together with the tracking company and members of Crime Prevention A group rushed to where the vehicle was located, arrested the suspect and took possession of the vehicle.
