Amajuba Cluster Commander Major General Mngonyama, Newcastle Station Commander Brigadier Sumayela, members of the SAPS and Newcastle Protection Services joined forces during a roadblock operation at the corner of Allen Street and the N11 on December 27.
Also present was the KZN Community and Liaison Officer, MEC Mxolisi Kaunda.

Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications and Liaison Officer, Captain Jabulani Ncube said the operation was initiated by the Amajuba Cluster Task Team and aimed at ensuring a safe road environment for motorists who had traveled over the festive period.
The roadblock saw motorists charged with failing to provide a valid drivers licence and other traffic related offences.
The operation was a success with the MEC and his departmental principals fully supporting this safety awareness initiative.
