Update: No charges laid for setting buses on fire during taxi ban protest in Ladysmith

At this time, no one has been charged for the offence

The case involving the buses that were set alight in the Driefontein area on January 8 is still being investigated by police. Angry protesters blocked roads going in and out of Ladysmith with burning tyres and rocks after MEC for Transport, Community Safety & Liaison Mr Mxolisi Kaunda banned the Sizwe and Klipriver taxi associations from operating in Ladysmith.

Buses and other vehicles were burned during the protest.

According to police, there are leads they are following up on.
