Residents clean up storm-water drains after municipality fails to help them

To make matters worse, the water stopped flowing down the drains and flooded their homes

Residents in Meena Place have taken matters into their own hands by cleaning the storm-water drains in their area.

The residents said they were tired of contacting the municipality and asking them to come and clean the drains, in vain, so they took time out of their own busy schedules and did the job themselves.

The residents added that the vegetation was so overgrown that water could not flow down the drains properly.

To make matters worse, the backed-up water flooded their homes.

Since they have dug up and removed all the vegetation, water is seen flowing smoothly into the drainage system and not flooding the entire area.

“We had to take the matter into our own hands to have a better life in the area,” commented one resident.
