Police officers from the Ematsheni SAPS were called out to a scene recently after the body of a man was discovered in the Okhambe Forests.
The deceased’s corpse was in an advanced stage of decomposition. Initially an inquest was opened into the death but as the investigation progressed a murder case was opened.
It was discovered that the deceased had been reported missing earlier in the month.
It is alleged that on the day of his disappearance the deceased had been accused of stealing cattle and had been taken to the forest to be “questioned” by members of the community.
He allegedly died during the incident and his body was left in the forest.
