Burst pipes and water outages have plagued residents of Suryaville.
Residents of Asnika Crescent in particular are aggrieved at a series of outages in recent months, which have left them consistently high and dry.
The most recent incident was last Tuesday evening.
“We had no water until Wednesday afternoon. I had to go out and couldn’t have a bath first,” said a resident, who opted to remain anonymous.

She explained the municipality was in the process of laying new infrastructure, after a number of existing pipes in the area burst over the course of a few months.
Yet she believed municipal staff handled the situation poorly.
The resident said despite notice being given, residents had little to no time to collect water supplies, and no tanker was provided for their needs.
“I asked for a tanker to be dispatched on Tuesday, and the call centre woman said no one was there to authorise that. We are very frustrated.”
She added that since January, water in the Asnika Crescent area was shut off about 10 times, and asked why their area had borne such abuse.
In this case, she felt patience certainly hadn’t paid off.
“People in the area are frustrated but are too fed up to do anything.”
In addition to the inconvenience of having no water, the resident also claimed staff left the area in front of Asnika Crescent homes littered with food containers, bottles and paper.
She described this as pathetic service delivery.

“It’s irritating when you have to go to work, and no water comes out of the shower.”
A number of questions relating to Suryaville residents’ complaints were dispatched last Thursday to the municipality’s Communications Unit.
No response was received at the time of going to print.
Yet residents reported no water in Suryaville again on Sunday, which was believed to be the result of a burst pipe on St Thomas Street.
Residents said it took workers hours to arrive.
