PREVIEW: Resident billed by municipality for four cents

A resident posted her municipal bill to social media last week, to show her amusement at the four cents she owed.

A resident received a municipal bill last week, for a mere four cents.

This was for her previous address, which she moved out of almost exactly a year ago.

“It’s the first time I was billed for that address since I settled my final balance.”

After posting on social media, she was surprised how many others had experienced the same.

Some were billed for even smaller amounts.

The residents said she was not exempt from paying, but questioned the logic of the municipality to spend more money sending bills, than would be recouped.

“The municipality can use that money on something else.”

For the full story on the four cents bill, read this week’s Newcastle Advertiser.
