Over a year has passed since two security guards were shot at during an attempted hijacking on the Bergville road, and still no arrests have been made. The incident occurred on March 8 last year.
The hijackers managed to force the escort vehicle off the road and a shoot-out ensued.
Both security guards were in a security vehicle escorting a van that was transporting cigarettes.
The hijackers were lying in wait and ambushed the vehicle, opening fire on the security vehicle, which lost control and veered off the roadway.
The van carrying the cigarettes was forced to a halt several kilometres from the initial shooting.
