
The Department of Community Safety & Liaison, in conjunction with Alfred Duma Local Municipality, hosted the launch of the Community Safety Forum in the area of Emachibini, Ward 7, at the eMachibini Community Hall on Tuesday last week.
The aim of the forum is to ensure safety for the community as they work together with the SAPS in the fight against crime.
Community members gathered for the launch, wanting to glean as much information as possible as to how the forum will work and how it will be to their benefit.
Messages of support were delivered by Department of Social Development representatives Mr Mbatha and Mr Muthwa, CPF chairperson at Uthukela Mr Mazibuko, Ezakheni police officers Mrs Dladla and Ms Ngcobo, Mr Masondo from the CCPA (Community Crime Prevention Association), the chairperson of Umkhumbi Mr Mbatha, and traditional leaders Mr Mvelase, Mr Thabede and Mr Madonsela.
In his closing remarks, ward councillor LS Madinane said he was very happy to work with the elected forum and knows they will do well in fighting crime and corruption in the area.
He also highlighted the fact that the forum forms part of a committee consisting of many stakeholders, all geared to fight crime.
