Update: Water to be restored in affected areas this evening

The community is urged to store water in containers once they have running water, as uThukela attempts to manage the situation

Water supply to the ‘Old Ladysmith’ area is currently off, but is expected to be back at about 6pm or 6.30pm this evening (March 27).

Residents living in Aloe Park and surrounding areas have been battling with water outages recently.

According to uThukela, they are experiencing a mechanical breakdown at the Ezakheni Bulk Water Plant due to heavy rains. Kantech engineers have been at the Ezakheni Bulk Water Plant today.

Evidently, the thrust bearing has been damaged, along with the shaft. Spares have been ordered for pump C.
