PREVIEW: The decaying state of municipal refuse bins in Newcastle

Some bins are reduced to twisted metal, while others have been uprooted by municipal workers.

Municipal refuse bins were meant to inspire residents to keep Newcastle clean.

Instead, abuse and neglect has overridden the purpose of these structures.

This has led the municipality to remove certain bins around town.

One example of this is Murchison Street.

“Some communities are demanding to be supplied with the bins, but generally skips and bins are being abused throughout the communities,” read an official response from the municipality.
