A 23-year-old woman was the victim of attempted card cloning this morning (March 28) at a busy shopping centre in Ladysmith.
It is believed that two men approached the woman while she was at an ATM. One of them insisted that she put in her pin. Panic kicked in and she entered a wrong digit.
When the men realised their plan was not working, they tried to grab her handbag. A struggle ensued between her and one of the men. The suspects then fled.
The security guard from the centre saw what was happening and immediately gave chase.
One of the robbers threw down a R100 note in an attempt to get the guard to stop chasing them.

The guard ignored the money and continued giving chase.
The robbers jumped into a white Atos and drove up Francis Road.
The young lady is currently in ICU after her traumatic ordeal. This is due to her being diabetic; the shock of the ordeal caused her health to deteriorate.
Police are investigating the matter.
