Residents in most areas of Ladysmith woke up to find that they were without power at their homes and businesses.
Social media has been a hive of activity, with people concerned and trying to find out why there is no power in town.
Some areas have had their electricity restored, while other areas remain without lights.
The Electricity Department say they have identified the problem and are attending to it.

Power should be restored within the next two hours.
Motorists are urged to drive carefully and stop at the robots that are not working.
