Newcastle 911 Community Policing Forum continues to keep Newcastle safe from dangerous criminals who lurk in the dark passageways and prey on the innocent.
The CPF recently released the remainder of the statistics for March 2018.

March 9:
– A 10-year-old boy was reported missing from his home in Amajuba Park.
A description of the boy and the clothing he was wearing was given. The CPF joined forces with the SAPS to search for him.
Fortunately, the boy was located later that day and reunited with his family.
– The CPF control room was informed of a stabbing incident which had occurred on Link Road, near Fairleigh.
SAPS and paramedics were summoned but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The matter now remains subject to further police investigation.
– Members received a call from a resident claiming there was an intruder in her yard. They responded, but upon arrival were informed that a white vehicle had been seen leaving the premises.
The incident remains subject to further police investigation.
March 10:
– Members of the CPF responded to a report whereby two vehicles had apparently collided with a wall on Aquamarine Drive. No injuries were reported.
– A house break-in in Barry Hertzog Park was reported. SAPS and a local security company were also informed, but the suspects managed to flee the scene, taking a TV with them. No arrests have been made yet.
March 11:
– Members responded to an incident in Amiel Park where a house break-in had allegedly occurred. A description of the suspects’ clothing, as well as the getaway vehicle, was given. A search was conducted, but the suspects evaded arrest. The matter remains subject to police investigation.
March 13:
– A report of domestic violence in Pioneer Park was called through on the 911 channel. SAPS was contacted and took over the case.
March 14:
– A call was received informing members of a pedestrian who had been knocked over by a car in Allen Street. They responded and summoned for the SAPS and medical assistance. The patient was treated on scene for minor injuries. The matter now remains subject to police investigations.
March 17:
– Information was received of people being robbed of their cellphones, cash and other belongings on Hardwick Street near the Farmers Hall. The call was followed up with information which led members to the whereabouts of the suspects.
Newcastle K9 Unit was contacted for assistance, and three suspects were arrested for armed robbery, as well as possession of drugs.
The case is now subject to further police investigation.
– A collision involving two vehicles occurred on the corner of Allen and Murchison Streets, and was reported to the control room. Members responded and assisted until emergency services arrived.
All patients involved were treated by paramedics, and the matter now remains subject to police investigations.

A note from Newcastle 911 Management:
“Members of the public are requested to please make sure of a situation before calling it in to the 911 Control Room. We do receive calls requesting our help at specific addresses, but when members get there, all is quiet.”
The CPF also urged members of the public to be cautious of suspicious people and vehicles in their area.
“When calling it in to the Control Room, please try and give a detailed description of the make and model of a vehicle and registration number if possible. Also, with people, please try and give a detailed description of the clothing being worn.”
All 911 members who respond to complaints use their own transport and at their own cost.
