Over 500 cell-phones were found after police caught a burglar red-handed in the act of breaking into a business in Illing Road.
In the early hours of yesterday morning (Monday, April 9), visible policing officers from Ladysmith SAPS received a complaint of an alarm activation at a business premises in IIIing Road.
Officers rushed to the scene and on arrival, they found all was in order from the outside. While conducting their inspection, the officers heard the sound of an angle grinder and decided to investigate further.
They went to the back of the building, where they found and arrested a 20-year-old man. He had gained entry to the premises through the roof.

Officers found nine bags outside the premises, hidden in the bush. The bags contained more than 500 cellular phones. The phones are valued at R80,000.
The suspect is due to appear in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court later this week, facing a charge of business burglary.
