Two men appeared in the Bergville court on Thursday (April 12) for the murder of a traditional healer in Bergville.
The murder was committed in a homestead in the Esqhingini area of Emmaus, Bergville.
The two suspects requested to consult with a known traditional healer, whom they had allegedly consulted in the past, and were allowed to enter the healer’s home. A short while later, they left the homestead.
Later in the day, family of the healer discovered her lifeless body. They immediately called police and a manhunt for the suspects began.

It was established that the suspects were from the Ntabamhlope area and police searched their premises, only to find that they had not returned home. Further investigation revealed that they could be in the Wembezi area.
Police went out to the area and pounced on the alleged killers when they least expected it. The men, both aged 31, were arrested.
The deceased has been identified as Mjezi Winnie Nomtshezi Mhlanga (61).
