Watch: Learner stabbed and rocks thrown during brutal gang fight at school in Ladysmith KZN

Four males, between the age of 17 and 21, have been arrested

School gang fights have become a major problem at many schools throughout the country and this phenomenon has now hit Ladysmith.

A school gang fight turned nasty on Thursday morning (April 12) at a school in Ezakheni E-Section, which is just outside Ladysmith.

The brutal fight led to bloodshed, with one 20-year-old learner sustaining stab wounds to his body and having to be taken to hospital.

Other learners took video footage of the fight, which has gone viral on social media. (The footage does not show the stabbing, but captures the pandemonium that erupted)

The learners, armed with knives and rocks, viciously attacked each other on the school premises in the assembly area just before the start of the school day.

Police were called out to the scene and Ezakheni detectives are currently investigating a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Four males, between the age of 17 and 21, have been arrested.

They made an appearance in the Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday this week.
