The yard remains heaped with rubbish, still posing a danger to the environment and human health. Upon a recent visit to the area, more bags filled with refuse lined the fence outside the home.
Almost four weeks ago, Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality was alerted of this issue following a resident’s concerns.
The Municipal Communication Officer Zodwa Ngubeni explained that the occupants at the home in Brewitt Road are recycling illegally.

She added that the owner was issued a contravention notice and was given until March 23. Failing to adhere to the contravention notice will result in fines. Since the occupants continue to operate despite the contravention notice, what action has been taken?
A family member from the home told the Estcourt News that they have arranged an appointment with the Municipal Manager and are awaiting feedback before commenting any further.
The municipality has responded by saying that a follow up meeting will be carried out with building control and environmental affairs where further action will be taken.
