JUST IN: Fatal crash on the N3 in Lions River

"Paramedics assessed the men and found that one man had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life"

A truck rolled down an embankment this morning (April 23) resulting in one death and one person being seriously injured.

The incident was reported at about 7am along the N3 in Lion’s River.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said that the large truck was found to be lying about 30 meters down an embankment.

“Two men were found lying near the cab of the truck. Paramedics assessed the men and found that one man had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for him and he was declared dead. The second man was assessed and found to have sustained numerous injuries, leaving him in a serious condition,” he explained.

One the injured man was treated, members from the SAPS Search and Rescue raised the man to the awaiting ambulance utilising various rescue equipment.
