The school, in the Dannhauser district, was honoured among the other top performing schools in the country at a top-flight function held at The Maslow, Times Square, in Pretoria.

Zama High School has been recognised as one of the top performing schools in the country and was recently fêted by National Education Minister, Angie Motsega.
The school, in the Dannhauser district, was honoured among the other top performing schools in the country at a top-flight function held at The Maslow, Times Square, in Pretoria.
It was not only the matric pass rate that impressed the judges but also the quality of the bachelor passes and distinctions achieved in the 2017 matric exams that earned Zama High School a silver medal.

The school has a reputation for doing well academically although the rural school lacks infrastructure and floor space. It is in spite of these challenges that Zama was rated among the top three schools in the country.
The school has also outperformed other schools when it comes to the national ABC Motsepe Choral Eisteddfod – Zama High has raked in four national championships and their principal, OV Kubheka, rated the country’s best conductor in 2017.
Reacting to all the accolades, Mr Kubheka said, “my eyes filled with tears when I heard my name being called out. Bearing in mind the challenges our school is faced with, it showed me that God is really with us.”
He told the Courier that he was very grateful to the educators for always believing in him. He also thanked the Governing Body and the Department for their support.
