“The victim’s underwear had been cut and removed from her body. There were beer bottles and two R20 notes at the scene, with another R20 note in her hand.”
Ncube said it was believed the victim was attacked on a dirt road nearby, and then dragged about 30 metres to where her body was discovered by a passerby.
A nearby tavern proved to be quite helpful to police, as CCTV footage was obtained with valuable information about what had transpired.
“The footage showed the victim was in the company of two men. It was also discovered the alleged suspects were of Lesotho nationality.”

Both the suspects managed to evade arrest for a few hours, but were caught and arrested as a result of determined investigations by police.
The two men, aged 20 and 25, will remain detained at Waterval Prison for the duration of their trial.
