Irate residents report Ncandu Park postboxes have been fenced off

Residents claim they were unable to collect mail after the Tugela Avenue postboxes were sealed off by a palisade fence.

Residents are fuming after the Ncandu Park postboxes were inexplicably fenced off.

According to locals, they have been unable to collect mail in recent days, after a palisade fence was erected around the four postboxes on Tugela Avenue (near the old Spar centre).

This fence features a gate, although it remains padlocked.

One furious resident said he phoned officials for clarity.

He claimed both a local branch of the South African Post Office (SAPO) and the Newcastle Municipality could provide no answers.

A subsequent site visit by the Newcastle Advertiser proved the resident’s concerns true.

The only access to the postboxes is via an adjacent property, through long grass and down an incline.

Correspondence was sent to both the municipality and SAPO regionally.

Although no response has been received, the Advertiser will continue monitoring the situation.

Residents who wish to comment on the matter can send an email to newed2@caxton.co.za.
