The mother of Sibusiso Sithole broke down in tears and had to be requested to step out for fresh air when one of the seven suspects charged with the brutal murder of her son, that occurred at Sasko, stepped into the box on Wednesday last week.
Vryheid Magistrates B Court was packed with community members from Sasko who went out to show their support of the families of the two young men that were brutally tortured after being accused of stealing a cellphone.
Community members have drawn up a letter that they hope to hand over to the court stating just why they are opposing bail for the seven young men who were charged with Sibusiso’s murder and the attempted murder of his friend, Mndeni Mazibuko.

The two friends were horrendously tortured on Good Friday, with pliers being used to pull out their teeth. They were also shocked using an electrical cord.
When a confession was still not forthcoming, the two were allegedly dragged to a backroom with a broken sewer pipe, where their faces were held to a pool of faeces, with the hopes that this would make them confess, but, this too, proved futile as the two continued to deny any knowledge of the phone in question.
One of the suspects is said to have become so aggravated during the ordeal that he stabbed Sibusiso in the chest.
The seven were arrested the next day and made their first court appearance on April, 2 when they were charged with murder and attempted murder.
They appeared in court again on May 3 and their case has been transferred to the Regional Court for May 14.
“We are sick and tired of seeing these boys do as they please within the community and getting away with it,” said John Madlamalala, who is part of the CPF in Sasko.
Mr Madlamalala said that community members were already moving out of their homes in Sasko out of fear of the horrendous brutality and increase of crime in the area.
