Estcourt Knitting Club shares the warmth

Among the knitted items were blankets, mittens, jerseys, scarves and bed socks, which will benefit 103 children aged between two to 19

By now, we all have felt the chill of winter creeping in. The women from the Estcourt Knitting Club aim to keep the cold at bay.

The have been knitting all year long to spread warmth to the orphaned and vulnerable children from the Midlands Orphanage and Care Centre (Ikhaya Lethu) in Colenso.

A few of the members from the knitting club met with Noel Robson from the Midlands Orphanage at Estcourt Midlands Christian Centre on Thursday where they handed over boxes and bags packed with winter necessities.

Among the knitted items were blankets, mittens, jerseys, scarves and bed socks, which will benefit 103 children aged between two to 19-years-old.

“Sometimes words are inadequate, the best I can say to the ladies is thank you! Your work is of a high standard and is greatly appreciated by the management, staff and mostly the children who have something warm this winter,” expressed Mr Robson.

The Estcourt Knitting Club wish to thank all its members: Rani Busschers, Belinda Smith, Alicia Dreyer, Mumsie Narayanan, Marriete louw, Joan Smith, Helen Twiddy, Doreen Pavior, Wendy Portter, Denise Welch, Jeanette Fraham, Cilla Strauss, Nelba Vercuil, Yvonne Klokie, Hayley Mellville as well as their generous wool sponsors.
