Young girls involved in prostitution in Ladysmith
Many people feel sorry for these young girls who are selling their bodies on the streets
More and more prostitutes are seen in many areas of the Ladysmith CBD.
What is shocking is that some of them are young girls who go so far as to “flash” passing motorists in an effort to attract potential customers.
Motorists have seen prostitutes lighting fires to keep themselves warm in Settlers Drive and Buckingham Road. Not only that, but they dump leftover food and containers in these areas and leave a filthy mess.
They are seen in Lyell and King Street as well, and motorists complain that these “ladies of the night” shout at drivers as they pass by.
Many people feel sorry for these young girls who are selling their bodies on the streets. “I guess they see this is the only way they can make a living and survive, but it’s still really sad. I’m sure I’m not alone in wondering whether their families know that this is the life they’ve chosen for themselves,” said one concerned resident.

Residents say they have complained so many times to the media about the prostitution problem, hoping that this issue will get sorted out, but it looks like it is getting worse. “It is extremely heartbreaking to see so many young girls involved,” lamented another resident.
