Update: Public Safety closes all roads leading to Van Reenen due to truck drivers protesting on the N3

Motorists are urged to delay their trips or use alternative routes, ie R74 and N11

Public Safety officers have closed roads that lead to Van Reenen.

This after over 100 trucks blocked the N3 at Van Reenen’s Pass this morning (June 20).

Truckers have blocked the entire highway.

Armed traffic officers are stationed along Harrismith Road, just after the army base, and just past the RTI offices.

If motorists are heading to Bergville, they will be allowed to proceed. However, Van Reenen is a “no go” zone at this stage.

Heavy traffic is expected on the alternative routes, ie R74 and N11.
