Gandhi Walk brings a community together

Young and old tackled the blustery conditions with gusto

They say golf is a ‘good walk spoiled’ but the Gandhi Walk held in Dundee, is one that brings a community together… Organised by the 1860 Legacy Group, the annual Walk, remembers MK Gandhi’s effort to effect peaceful change through non-violent means.

Passive resistance is what it became known as early in the last century, as  Gandhi arranged what today would be called illegal marches in the then Transvaal from Natal to protest the treatment of Indians in the country.

Braving blustery conditions, it was a group of around 200 walkers who set off from Talana Museum, and followed a 5km route, through Peacevale and up the long hill back to the Museum where there were refreshments and prizes
