A house was broken into at Hlathi No 1 in the Ekuvukeni area on August 5.
Three armed men entered the premises of a foreign national with hand guns.
The suspects threatened and assaulted the victim, taking the keys to his vehicle as well as cash and cell phones.
In a haste to escape one of the suspects dropped his pistol at the crime scene while fleeing.
Police have recovered the firearm and have launched a man hunt for the suspects.

The victim sustained bruising as a result of the assault.
Detectives are investigating a case of house robbery.
The firearm will be subjected to ballistic testing.
