Estcourt detectives seek duo linked to armed robbery

Two unknown men approached the vulnerable family, brandishing firearms and uttering threats

Car troubles … break down … unfamiliar town … and then an armed robbery.

This terrifying sequence of events befell a family that was travelling on the N3 during the end of June this year. Fortunately their lives were spared but sadly, two gun-toting men robbed them of cash.

The family experienced car trouble while in the vicinity of Shell Ultra City on the N3.

It’s believed that a male occupant attempted to repair the vehicle while the family waited … hoping for his speedy success. While the man busied himself fixing the car, an unfamiliar vehicle stopped a short distance away.

Two unknown men approached the vulnerable family, brandishing firearms and uttering threats. The family was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money.

Speaking about the leads on the case, police spokesperson Captain Nqobile Gwala said that an identikit had been produced and police are confident that the men depicted can ‘assist in their investigation.

She describes their features: “The person in image number one is tall and has a slender build. He has a gold slit and a moustache. The person in mage two is tall and has a heavier build. Both men are between the ages of 35 and 37.”
